Research shows that stronger links between you and your child’s school improves their enjoyment and chances of doing well. The more you know about what your child is learning, the more support you can offer them.
We involve you in your child’s education through:
- Letters to Parents – to update you on upcoming news or changes.
- Parent Surveys – online and written surveys are used to gain parents’ views on the school and on specific projects. You can also tell Ofsted what you think, on Ofsted’s Parent View.
- Learning Reviews and Parent Evenings – which are held on a regular basis for you to formally consult with teaching staff about your child’s progress, behaviour and targets for improvement.
- Information Evenings – held throughout the year to discuss any education changes that may affect your child.
- Induction Days and Evenings – which also allow you to meet staff and visit our Academy.
Information evenings are also held for different year groups. These evenings may cover:
- Year 9 GCSE option choices.
- Exams and revision.
- Educational visits.
- Important information and documents.

If you would like to volunteer more time with us, you could become a Parent Governor. The Academy’s governing body includes a number of Parent Governors who are there to represent parents, and to have a say in the strategic decision-making of the Academy.

Class charts
Class Charts is an online system which teachers at Arena Academy use to track achievement and behaviour throughout the school day. We believe in working closely with parents and one of the key benefits of using Class Charts is that we are able to securely share your Child’s achievement and behaviour report with you and so keep you up to date in real-time.
Parents and students have each been given a unique access code to allow them to sign up to Class Charts.
It is vital as part of your child’s education that they have access to their Class Charts account. By regularly logging in to Class Charts students will be able to track their behaviour and be rewarded for their achievements both in and outside of school.

Lost Property
Any staff members or students who find lost items, will hand them into reception. In the unfortunate event that your child does lose something, they should:
- Visit the last area they were in. If the item is not there, they should retrace their steps and check all classrooms/areas that they have been in that day.
- If they have been unable to find their lost item, they should go to the school reception to check whether the item has been handed in. Please note that sometimes, it may take a few days before lost items are handed in.
- If they can not find it, you or your child can complete this form and we will try reunite you with the item by emailing you.
Lost Property Form
Lost property that is not labelled will be held for up to four weeks. Any lost property not claimed, will be donated to a local charity.
Labelling of uniforms is very easy to do; there are sew-on or iron-on name tags, and marker pens for clothing. Simply writing your child’s full name, surname or initials on their uniform will help them to reclaim lost items. Labelling of shoes and trainers can be done with a good quality laundry marker pen or permanent marker pen, just remember that over time the writing will gradually fade.
