Studying children’s play, learning and development gives students the opportunity to gain an understanding of how children grow and develop whilst gaining a broad knowledge of the early years sector and how play is used to promote child development.
UNIT 1: PATTERNS OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Understanding growth patterns and development of children helps adults to know how they can support children or recognise if children need additional support.
UNIT 2: PROMOTING CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PLAY
Play is an important way of supporting children’s development. There are many ways that early years settings promote a range of play opportunities to help develop learning.
UNIT 3: THE PRINCIPLES OF EARLY YEARS PRACTICE
Early years settings can vary, such as, nurseries and childminders, but they still work on the same principles -to ensure that each child is supported and benefits from the opportunities within the early years setting.
