Studying Performing Arts through a Dance approach gives students the opportunity to develop their arts-based knowledge, practical dance technique and performance skills. They will understand how Dance is influenced by a variety of factors including history and media and how everyday life continues to affect the development of the Arts worldwide. 

Component 1- Exploring the Performing Arts

Students explore the processes used by a variety of choreographers to create a performance. They will use this knowledge to practically recreate performance pieces as an individual and part of a group.

Component 2 – Developing Skills and Techniques in the Performing Arts

The development of student’s individual technique and performance skills will be focused on. This will enable them to identify their strengths and areas to improve allowing them to tailor the practical workshop process to suit their needs.

Component 3 – Respond to a brief

Students need to undertake the role of a performer or designer to create pieces related to a set brief set by the exam board.  You will operate as a small production company and work together to produce a final live performance which is externally assessed.
